About this vehicle
The Vapid Peyote is a two-door, two-seat Sports Classics coupé styled after American cars from the 1950s. It retains the Grand Theft Auto IV model in Grand Theft Auto V, with extensive chrome trim, stacked circular headlights and tail lamps, a broad grille, rear fins and wire-style wheels. Its roof can carry a secondary colour, while a continental kit is available as a Los Santos Customs modification. Some examples also retain zebra upholstery and black fuzzy dice.
The Peyote appears parked near Michael's mansion and in southern East Los Santos, and it can pass through traffic in Vespucci. A distinctive pink example appears during Random Event - Car Theft 1. The car can be kept after it is recovered from the thief rather than returned to its owner. Modified roofless Peyotes also appear around El Burro Heights, particularly at the bus junkyard at South Shambles Street and Hanger Way, most often at night.
The Peyote is heavier than its earlier counterpart, which reduces its acceleration and lowers its top speed, though its engine remains the same. Its braking distance is shorter. In Los Santos, it is also used as a lowrider by the Los Santos Vagos, Families and Ballas. Their roofless versions carry dechromed bumpers, spare wheels, lead sled grilles, cowl induction hoods, lowrider wheels, competition suspension and gang-specific styling. Franklin can take a Families Peyote without being challenged.
Trivia
- ◆"Peyote" is the real-life common name of a North American breed of cactus, famous for its powerful psychoactive properties. A badge emblazoned with an image of the peyote cactus is placed on side of the hardtop variant's rear pillars.
- ◆Despite having two textures of its "V10 supercharged" badge for each side, the text is mistakenly mirrored on one side. This was fixed in GTA V.
- ◆A Rockstar Games emblem can be seen on Peyotes with zebra seats.
- ◆One of the modifications of the Peyote includes a pair of fuzzy dice on the mirror, just like the Yardie Lobo from GTA III and the Bickle'76 from GTA Liberty City Stories. This is the third car in the series to feature a pair of fuzzy dice on the mirror.
- ◆However, the pair of fuzzy dice was removed in the enhanced version.
- ◆The "Los Santos Plaque" is not spelled the same way as the options menu in Los Santos Customs. It actually reads "Low Santos", referencing its low rider qualities.
- ◆The gang and non-gang modified topless Peyotes can rarely have side windows. This also applies to the gang and non-gang modified topless Mananas.
- ◆The description on Benny's Original Motor Works refers to how the Peyote was originally only obtainable by stealing one on the streets.
- ◆The Route 68 poster seems very similar to the GTA Online Social Club preview, only with different backgrounds; the Route 68 being on said road, while the Social Club preview is seen on the city streets.
