The Elk comprises the Rocky Mountain bull elk and Rocky Mountain cow elk, two forms of Cervus canadensis in Red Dead Redemption 2. Both are herbivores that feed on grasses, leaves, bark and plants. The bull yields an Elk Pelt, Elk Antlers and Mature Venison, while the cow yields a pelt and Mature Venison.

Elk range from southwest Tall Trees to northeast Roanoke Ridge, with populations in Ambarino and northern New Hanover. They do not inhabit New Austin, Lemoyne, the Great Plains or The Heartlands. They appear during the early morning and early evening, but startle easily and flee when approached.

Their wary nature favors long-range hunting. A Bow with Improved Arrows or a long scope rifle can produce a clean kill, while a lasso and knife can preserve the animal's quality. Pelts and antlers are used in crafting, and Mature Venison is food that can be cooked or sold. A Perfect Elk Pelt can be made into a pair of Chaps.
