The Egret is a rare wading bird in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. It includes the Little Egret, Reddish Egret and Snowy Egret, based on Egretta garzetta, Egretta rufescens and Egretta thula. All three are carnivores that feed on fish, insects, frogs and crustaceans.
Egrets live around the water in Bayou Nwa and Bluewater Marsh. The Little Egret and Reddish Egret inhabit the Bayou Nwa swamps, while the Snowy Egret occurs in Lemoyne's swamp and marsh country. For birds of this size, the Varmint Rifle is considered the appropriate weapon.
A killed egret yields an Egret Plume, Flight Feather, Gamey Bird Meat and an Egret Carcass. Plumes are used in crafting and are required by Algernon Wasp for the first request in "Duchesses and other Animals", which calls for five plumes from each species alongside Lady of the Night Orchids. Carcasses can be sold to butchers and traders or donated to Pearson.
