Player notes
The Owl in Red Dead Redemption 2 covers the California horned owl, Coastal horned owl and Great horned owl. All are classified as Bubo virginianus. It is a nocturnal bird, appearing after dark rather than during the day, and may be seen perched or flying overhead.
Aurora Basin is the listed location for owls. They also occur sporadically across northern and central parts of the map, though Aurora Basin and its surroundings in Tall Trees hold the greatest concentration. At night, an owl may settle on isolated buildings, including Tanner's Reach, Catfish Jacksons and the Veteran's Homestead.
Killing an owl can provide an Owl Feather, Flight Feather, Gamey Bird Meat and an Owl Carcass. Owl Feathers are used in Survivalist Challenge 8, where they are required to craft a homing tomahawk.
