Player notes
The Oriole is a small bird in Red Dead Redemption 2, represented by the Baltimore oriole, Icterus galbula, and the Hooded oriole, Icterus cucullatus. Both are omnivores. Baltimore Orioles feed on fruit, flower nectar and insects, while Hooded Orioles eat leaf insects as well as fruit and nectar. Their size places them among the small birds hunted with light ammunition.
Orioles are found chiefly around Lone Mule Stead in Big Valley. The Baltimore Oriole also occurs in Roanoke Ridge, while the Hooded Oriole inhabits West Elizabeth. They are wild birds rather than animals obtained from a seller or through an award, and their different habitats determine which variety is encountered.
A Bow fitted with Small Game Arrows is the effective weapon for killing or wounding either oriole. An oriole provides an Oriole Feather, a Flight Feather, Gamey Bird Meat and an Oriole Carcass. The carcass can be sold to traders.
