Woodpecker covers the Pileated woodpecker, Dryocopus pileatus, and Red-bellied woodpecker, Melanerpes carolinus. Both are omnivorous birds that feed on insects, fruit, nuts and berries. Their call sets them apart from other birds: at close range, it resembles the sound of a gatling gun. Woodpeckers occur across most of the world, though they do not appear in Cholla Springs, Río Bravo, Gaptooth Ridge or Great Plains.

The Red-bellied woodpecker is associated with Roanoke Ridge, while the Pileated woodpecker lives in the wooded parts of New Hanover. Woodpeckers are less common in Hennigan's Stead, Grizzlies West and Bayou Nwa. They are also among the animals present at Sisika Penitentiary. A Bow with Small Game Arrows is suited to taking birds of this size while preserving their carcasses.

A woodpecker can provide Woodpecker Feather, Flight Feather, Gamey Bird Meat and Woodpecker Carcass. Its carcass and feathers are used in crafting. A Perfect Woodpecker is required for the second request in The Wildlife Art Exhibition, giving the bird a use beyond ordinary hunting and material collection.
