Upon learning that Eagle Flies has been captured by the army, Arthur and Charles infiltrate Fort Wallace to rescue him.

Arthur Morgan incontra Charles Smith alla Wapiti Indian Reservation dopo che Eagle Flies viene catturato dall'Army. Su richiesta di Charles, Arthur parla con Rains Fall nella sua tenda. Rains Fall teme per suo figlio, definendo Eagle Flies uno sciocco ma insistendo sul fatto di amarlo. Nonostante le obiezioni del capo, Arthur decide di riportare indietro Eagle Flies, poi raggiunge di nuovo Charles. Cavalcano attraverso Cumberland Forest in direzione di Fort Wallace, attraversando il Dakota River lungo il cammino.

Charles spiega di aver predisposto delle canoe per la fuga e condanna il modo in cui Dutch sfrutta il conflitto dei Wapiti. Arthur ammette di essere in fin di vita. Charles gli dice che saperlo gli dà il tempo di rimediare. Vicino a Fort Wallace, lasciano i cavalli e aspettano che cali il buio. I due uomini si muovono lungo il muro esterno del forte, eliminando silenziosamente le guardie prima che Charles usi una corda per farli salire oltre. Attraversano il cortile e raggiungono una torre, dove Arthur spara a una lanterna per appiccare un incendio e allontanare i soldati dalla prigione.

Charles uccide la guardia della prigione, mentre Arthur prende le chiavi e libera Eagle Flies. L'allarme suona mentre lasciano il blocco delle celle, costringendoli a combattere contro i soldati di Fort Wallace. Arthur, Charles ed Eagle Flies sfondano un tratto debole del muro, recuperano i cavalli e cavalcano verso il fiume inseguiti. Uccidono i soldati rimasti vicino alle canoe di Charles, poi fuggono lungo il Dakota River. Sulla riva, Eagle Flies avverte che Colonel Favours risponderà a questo salvataggio con la guerra. Charles riporta Eagle Flies a Wapiti, mentre Arthur resta presso il fiume.

Curiosità

  • ◆After freeing Eagle Flies, players will automatically be equipped with the bow to the shoulder. If players already carry the bow using the long-arm back slot, it will be switched to the long-arm shoulder slot.
  • ◆While infiltrating Fort Wallace, a pair of soldiers can be heard commenting on how boring it is to be guarding the fort for Colonel Favours instead of serving in the Philippines.
  • ◆While sneaking through the fort, Arthur can preemptively shoot the lantern before Charles gives him the order. After which, Charles may use his sawed-off shotgun to kill a soldier, which would oddly not attract any attention from the other soldiers.
  • ◆The player as Arthur can use the Dynamite Arrow as an alternative method to destroy the wall to escape with Charles and Eagle Flies, if they have found/bought the recipe pamphlet and crafted the arrow in question. Regular Dynamite works as well, as they can just place it on the wall and ignite.
  • ◆Toward the end of the mission, Charles tells Arthur, "In a way, you were lucky", a line the latter remembers during his final ride in the "Red Dead Redemption" mission if his Honor is high.
