Atomic Blimp

The Atomic Blimp is a four-seat airship in the Planes class and the first controllable blimp in Grand Theft Auto. Its envelope sits above a small four-door gondola, with tricycle landing gear and two engines. The flight deck has two large control yokes and matching controls on both sides. Although the game classes it as an airplane, it flies with helicopter-style controls.

Its shape is based on a real-world blimp produced by the aviation division of a tire company. Atomic markings cover the envelope in a style close to that company's blimp branding, while the gondola and landing gear draw from one real aircraft design and the more angular fins from another. It is faster and more agile than its size suggests, with modest acceleration, steady flight and helicopter-like manoeuvrability.

After Franklin's introductory mission, the Atomic Blimp can be ordered through a special in-game app and collected from the marked delivery point, including Vinewood Racetrack and Los Santos International Airport on consoles. It is available through eligible pre-orders and editions, and comes as standard in the enhanced version. NPC-operated Atomic Blimps also pass over Los Santos. It is easily destroyed by collisions or gunfire.
