About this vehicle
The Declasse Granger is a four-door, full-size SUV in the SUVs class, built as a light truck with room for eight occupants. Its broad, squared body has a geometric front end, chrome-bar grille, circular fog lamps and high-profile tyres. Raised wheel arches, running boards, roof rails and dark trim give it an off-road-oriented appearance. Some examples carry a bullbar, while others use contrasting bumper and wheel-arch cladding.
A turbocharged V8-style engine, five-speed transmission and stable four-wheel-drive layout give the Granger strong torque and a durable feel. It is not as fast as sports vehicles, but it remains capable over rock, sand and mountain tracks, and its weight lets it force through traffic, fences and roadblocks. Its low ride height can make steep steps and sharp inclines troublesome. It withstands heavy collision and gunfire damage, which suits its use by NOOSE, Sheriffs and Park Rangers.
In Grand Theft Auto V, the Granger is often found in Blaine County, including Route 68 through Harmony and Paleto Bay, and may appear on the dirt road by Fort Zancudo's east checkpoint. In Grand Theft Auto Online, it appears around Davis Quartz, Downtown, Richman, the docks, Pacific Bluffs and the RON Alternates Wind Farm safe house. Southern San Andreas Super Autos sells it for $35,000, though it is removed from that website in enhanced versions after the San Andreas Mercenaries update.
Trivia
- โThe name Granger is a subtle poke at the Suburban, as a "granger" is a slang term for a farmer, and the Suburban nameplate was originally applied to rurally-oriented vehicles before its evolution as a modern SUV.
- โThe Granger is badged as a "3500LX," referring to the engine series used in its real-life inspiration, the Chevrolet Suburban, as well as possibly referencing the vehicle's trim level. It could also reference older generations of the Suburban, which were available as 1500 (half-ton) and 2500 (three-quarter-ton) models.
- โSouthern San Andreas Super Autos erroneously describes the Granger as a pickup truck.
- โIn the enhanced version of the game, the Granger was equipped with LED police lights from its FIB counterpart, albeit non-functioning. These were removed in an update.
- โOddly, the Granger's main exhaust pipe has two extensions towards the exhaust manifold despite the engine having only one exhaust manifold. This appears on all of its emergency variants, as well as several other SUVs and several trucks.
- โBy scrolling through the "Window Tints" options without selecting anything, one can either remove the tint or keep the dark tint. In addition, the Light Smoke tint does not change anything at all.
