Tow Truck

The Vapid Tow Truck is a two-seat utility light truck built as a hook-and-chain recovery vehicle. In Grand Theft Auto V, it retains the aged design used for the Towtruck in The Lost and Damned, whose body resembles a Chevrolet C3100 tow truck. It has a dedicated towing rig, roof-mounted amber lights and licence plates at both ends. Its worn bodywork appears without company markings, in a limited range of two-tone colours.

The rear hitch works, allowing the Tow Truck to attach to other vehicles. Its roof lights can be switched on with the horn control. A CB radio is installed, and Trevor can hear occasional trucker transmissions while driving one in Blaine County, even if the radio is off. The truck uses rear-wheel drive, a single-cam V8 with four double-barrel carburettors and a four-speed gearbox. Its low-revving, smooth engine note is shared with the Burrito, Pony and Speedo.

The Tow Truck is slow to accelerate and has a reduced top speed compared with the class, while its low traction and limited power leave it with little wheelspin. It has a short turning radius but can oversteer, though its low speed usually limits this. During the mission "Tow Truck", a lone example waits beside a mechanic repairing his car. After the mechanic is attacked, the truck is taken to the FIB lot.
