Towtruck (Yankee-based)

The Vapid Towtruck is a two-seat Utility-class tow truck in Grand Theft Auto V, built on the Vapid Yankee's cab. It retains that vehicle's cabin, bumper and front lights, but has a flat hood, a revised grille, roof marker lamps and trumpet horns. A raised recovery bed carries twin crane arms, amber warning lights and a black rear bumper. Casey's Highway Clearance operates these trucks, which appear with rusted white or red bodywork and industrial wheels.

It can be found parked outside Los Santos Customs off Greenwich Parkway, between La Puerta and Vespucci Beach behind Los Santos International Airport. Other examples appear at Dignity Village in Mount Chiliad, by Ortega's trailer near the Zancudo River, around Sandy Shores and on highways. Franklin receives one at LSPD Auto Impound after acquiring the property, where it is used for towing work. A specially painted example appears during Grass Roots, and one sits outside the restricted area in Scouting the Port.

The Towtruck has strong top speed for its size, although its weight makes acceleration slow and its long chassis widens its turns. It remains stable at speed, withstands damage well and can force smaller vehicles from the road. Its crane raises and lowers to hook vehicles, allowing it to haul larger loads than the smaller tow truck. Franklin uses one throughout Tonya's Pulling Favors missions, and during a main-heist setup and the heist itself, where he rams an armored van.
