Heavy Shotgun

The Heavy Shotgun is a Shrewsbury 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun in the Shotguns class. Its design is based chiefly on the Russian Saiga 12K, a shortened, folding-stock version of the Kalashnikov-pattern Saiga 12. The in-game weapon shares its receiver with the Assault Rifle. It arrives with the Last Team Standing Update and has an eight-round magazine.

In the original version of Grand Theft Auto V, the Heavy Shotgun is placed in the protagonists' inventory when its DLC is downloaded. In the enhanced version, Ammu-Nation sells it for $13,550 after Monkey Business. In Grand Theft Auto Online, Ammu-Nation offers it from Rank 1 for the same price. Another can be found in the Kosatka, on a powerbox in the Sparrow helipad area.

Rather than firing buckshot, the Heavy Shotgun fires a single projectile. This gives it less maximum close-range damage than pellet shotguns, but makes it more accurate and effective at longer distances, where it outranges most of its class. It fires more slowly than the Assault Shotgun, yet reloads relatively quickly and carries more ammunition than the Musket. Its shots deal triple damage to vehicles, making it useful against unarmored cars.
