The Blue Jay, Cyanocitta cristata, is a medium-sized bird in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a loud, vocal bird that commonly settles on raised surfaces such as boulders, fences and posts. Its size places it among the birds whose condition is best preserved by a Bow fitted with Small Game Arrows.
Blue Jays occur around Caliban's Seat in Roanoke Ridge. They can be spotted while perched above the ground, where their calls may give away their presence. A carefully taken kill with Small Game Arrows preserves the bird's quality, while using unsuitable weapons can leave the carcass in poorer condition.
A Blue Jay yields a Blue Jay Carcass, Blue Jay Feather, Flight Feather and Gamey Bird Meat. The carcass can be sold to traders or broken down for crafting materials. Blue Jay Feathers are used to make hat accessories, while the bird's other materials provide feathers and meat.
Trivia
- โDuring many of the house building scenes in "A New Jerusalem", there is a Blue Jay that appears and seems to be unfazed by John and Charles as they construct Beecher's Hope. This has led to many fan theories about the bird potentially being a reincarnated version of Arthur, although there has been no official confirmation on this.
