The Bluegill is a small freshwater fish in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. It is based on the bluegill species and lives in open water, appearing in lakes and rivers across the country. Bluegill can be found in Ambarino, New Hanover, West Elizabeth, Lemoyne and New Austin. Fishermen around Scarlett Meadows also tell stories of a Legendary Bluegill.

Among freshwater fish, Bluegill are easy to catch with food bait, including cheese. They are particularly active when it rains. Muskie and bass prey on them, placing the small fish among the prey species found in the waters of the frontier.

Catching a Bluegill yields Gritty Fish Meat. The fish is also used for the first Survivalist Challenge, which requires three Bluegill to be caught.
