The Boar is Red Dead Redemption 2's depiction of the wild boar, Sus scrofa. It is a large omnivore found throughout Lemoyne, where it feeds on roots and fruit as well as amphibians, reptiles, insects, worms and smaller mammals. Boars provide a common source of animal materials in the region, though their size gives them different handling from other large animals.
A rifle is suited to bringing down a boar, as is a Bow using Poison Arrows or regular Arrows. Although the game classifies it as a large animal, a killed boar is skinned in the same manner as massive animals such as Elk and Bison. Its body cannot be picked up and carried on horseback after the kill.
Skinning a Boar yields Boar Skin, Boar Tusks, Animal Fat and Tender Pork Loin. The tender pork can be eaten. Its fat and tusks are materials for crafting, while its skin supplies the pelt obtained from the animal. A clean kill with the appropriate weapon can preserve a perfect pelt.
