The Coyote is the California Valley coyote, Canis latrans ochropus, in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a primarily carnivorous animal whose diet centres on rodents. Coyotes also act as scavengers and may be seen feeding on carcasses in the wild.
Coyotes range across New Austin, West Elizabeth, Lemoyne and New Hanover. They occur throughout the world except Grizzlies West, where they are absent. Their broad range makes them a common sight away from that region.
A coyote yields Coyote Fur, Stringy Meat and a Coyote Carcass. Its fur can be sold or used for crafting, while its meat can be eaten. The game uses coyotes as huntable wildlife that provide animal materials and food.

- โThe coyote in-game is considered the California Valley Coyote. True to its name, this subspecies is endemic to California (a state that is confirmed to exist in the Red Dead universe), and as such, many other coyote subspecies would be found in the areas that represent Red Dead Redemption 2 's states.
