Player notes
The Duck is a bird species in Red Dead Redemption 2 based on Anas platyrhynchos and Anas platyrhynchos domesticus. It appears as two subspecies, the Mallard duck and the Pekin duck. Both are waterfowl found around the game's rivers, lakes and other waterways.
Ducks occur across most of the map, absent only from Grizzlies West and New Austin. They favour water and gather particularly often in Bayou Nwa, where they can appear in large groups. Their presence alongside geese makes wetland areas a regular source of small game.
Hunting a Duck can provide Duck Feathers, Flight Feathers, Animal Fat, Game Meat and a Duck Carcass. A Bow with Small Game Arrows is suited to killing them. Their fat is used for crafting ammunition, while the meat and feathers provide further resources.

- โArthur's sketch for the Pekin duck is rather simplistic compared to his other drawings, appearing to more closely resemble John's art style.
- โReal-life Pekin ducks have pure white feathers, yet the game depicts them with colors similar to Mallard ducks.
