The Giant Boar is a unique boar in Red Dead Redemption 2, identified as Megasus Scrofa. It is an abnormally large animal, described as roughly twice the size of an ordinary boar. Hamish Sinclair hears rumours that it has been goring cattle around the area, giving it a hostile reputation before it is encountered.
It is found at O'Creagh's Run and appears only during "The Veteran IV", the last mission in Hamish Sinclair's "The Veteran" stranger strand. When the protagonist visits Hamish's homestead, the animal is seen outside by the outhouse before it escapes into the mountains. Its trail is then followed through the surrounding country.
Among boars, the Giant Boar is defined by its unusual scale and its ability to overpower Hamish after pursuing him. It functions as the final animal threat in "The Veteran IV". After the protagonist kills it, its Giant Boar Tusk can be taken as a trophy.
Trivia
- โIt is not possible to kill the Giant Boar while chasing it. If the protagonist tries shooting it, they will comment on its thick hide.
- โNoticeably, this boar has a different color compared to other boars found in the game, indicating it is a different species.
- โIf the protagonist doesn't shoot the boar in time, it will kill them by knocking them to the ground.
