Turkey represents two wild turkey subspecies in Red Dead Redemption 2: the Eastern wild turkey, Meleagris gallopavo silvestris, and the Rio Grande wild turkey, Meleagris gallopavo intermedia. Both are opportunistic omnivores that forage for insects, seeds and grasses.
The Eastern wild turkey lives through the forested and brushy country of West Elizabeth, New Hanover and Lemoyne. It is found across much of the northern and central map, apart from Bayou Nwa and Great Plains, and is particularly common in Roanoke Ridge. It also appears rarely in Grizzlies West and Hennigan's Stead.
The Rio Grande wild turkey belongs to southern New Austin and is less common than its eastern relative. Turkeys yield Turkey Feather, Plump Bird Meat and a Turkey Carcass. Their feathers are used in crafting, while their meat provides food.
