Player notes
The White Cougar is a unique, rare alabaster-coloured female cougar in Red Dead Redemption 2. It lives in a cave near the summit of Mount Shann, in Big Valley, West Elizabeth, north of Strawberry. The cave has become dangerous for hunters, as the cougar has killed people who entered it to pursue her.
Winton Holmes has been tracking the animal and tells Arthur Morgan that hunting it could repay the debt Winton owes Leopold Strauss. He and Arthur enter the cave and separate to search for it. The cougar attacks Winton soon afterward, killing him. Arthur finds Winton's body marked by bites and scratches before the animal begins stalking him.
The White Cougar attacks Arthur in the cave, but he shoots and kills it. Its hide is used to settle Winton's debt to Leopold Strauss. The animal is encountered at Mount Shann during this hunt, rather than being bought or received from another character.
Trivia
- โThere are three other corpses in the cougar's cave other than Winton's corpse, all of which can be looted. However, doing so lowers the player's Honor.
- โAlbino cougars can be found outside the mission, but are rare.
