Compact EMP Launcher

The Coil Compact EMP Launcher is a Heavy, single-shot 40mm projectile weapon in Grand Theft Auto Online, added with The Contract. Coil builds it as a pistol-sized grenade launcher, with a ribbed grip, vented receiver, skeletal barrel frame and a holographic sight near the muzzle. Its markings resemble those of the Railgun, including a reference to "1.51 gigawatts."

It fires blue EMP grenades with the same arcing ballistics as the Compact Grenade Launcher. Rounds bounce from surfaces, explode after a short delay and detonate immediately on a direct hit against a person or vehicle. The launcher adjusts its firing arc to the aimed target, but its slow projectiles and limited blast radius make moving targets difficult to strike. It can also be fired during motorcycle drive-bys and from the passenger side of certain helicopters.

Rather than causing major damage, an EMP round shuts down a struck vehicle's engine briefly, with a shorter effect on electric vehicles, and stuns NPCs. A vehicle's weapons remain operational while its engine is disabled. On open ground, the launcher can bring a low helicopter down without destroying it, though repeated shots can damage the aircraft. The Compact EMP Launcher is sold through the Agency Armory for $525,000, or $498,750 to an Agency owner, appears at the Gun Van during Gun Van Week, and can be used in Most Wanted - Thompson.
