Railgun

The Coil Railgun is a Heavy, single-shot rail gun made by Coil. It is an experimental infantry weapon with a carbine-like body, twin powered rails at its front, side vents, a fixed stock and a transparent sight with a triangular reticle. Its appearance resembles a weapon from the Halo series. Government markings appear on its casing. A green indicator shows that it is loaded and turns red after firing.

In Grand Theft Auto V, the Railgun becomes available from Ammu-Nation for $250,000 after Minor Turbulence. Another can be recovered from the submerged wreckage of the cargo plane from that mission, north of Stab City. It can also be obtained through the Ammu-Nation Shooting Ranges. In Grand Theft Auto Online, it is sold by the Gun Van when stocked, and appears temporarily in selected modes, Bunker resupply work and other encounters.

The Railgun fires metallic kinetic rounds through an electromagnetic effect. It has high damage and long range for its class, but low fire rate and accuracy, with a 15-round capacity. Each shot needs time to recharge, and its small blast radius makes missed shots costly. It is used against unarmored vehicles, heavy targets and distant enemies, while its slow single-shot cycle makes it less suited to groups on foot. In Online, it cannot lock onto targets.
