Player notes
Lobo is a rare, legendary wolf in Red Dead Redemption. He is a giant animal with solid black fur and glowing yellow eyes, and can be hunted and skinned. Killing and skinning him yields Lobo's Fur, Lobo's Meat and Lobo's Heart, which can be sold as provisions.
In singleplayer, Lobo is found near Aurora Basin at the northwestern end of Tall Trees, West Elizabeth. He is one of the legendary animals required for Master Hunter - Rank 10, alongside Gordo the Boar and Brumas the Bear. His large size and dark coat set him apart from the ordinary wolves in the area.
In Redemption Multiplayer, Lobo appears in Barranca, Nuevo Paraiso, southeast of Chuparosa. Waves of wolves must be killed before he arrives, marked by a red skull on the mini-map and accompanied by another group of wolves. Finding and killing him completes Master Hunter II: Rank 2.
Trivia
- โTo design Lobo, developers probably took inspiration from the book Lobo the King of Currumpaw, in which author Ernest Thompson Seton describes (and actually hunted down) a black Wolf named Lobo, who lived in the Currumpaw Valley, New Mexico.
- โLobo in both Spanish and Portuguese means wolf, making his name Wolf the Wolf.
- โLobo has been known not to attack the player unless they attack him first, this may be due to the player fast traveling right where he spawns, or it may just be a glitch. This may also occur if he spawns at near the same time as Brumas the bear.
- โSometimes, after he has been killed, his eyes may glow. They also may look slightly bloated.
- โIn the Spanish version, his name is "Colmillo", which means "Fang".
- โKeifer the Wolf has the same model as Lobo.
- โLobo's model may appear uncommonly during the "Bad Hunter" world event if the animal being hunted is a wolf; killing and skinning his model in this situation will only reward the player with the pelt, meat, and heart from a regular wolf.
