The Pelican is a large seabird in Red Dead Redemption 2, represented by the American white pelican and the Brown pelican. Its size and broad, gaping bill make it easy to distinguish from other birds. A Varmint Rifle is used to take one down cleanly. Killing and skinning a pelican yields Pelican Feather, Flight Feather, Exotic Bird Meat and a Pelican Carcass.
Pelicans live mainly along the eastern shores. They appear around Bayou Nwa, Bluewater Marsh, Lagras, Saint Denis and Copperhead Landing, as well as the eastern coast of Great Plains and Quaker's Cove. Their range also reaches New Austin, Thieves' Landing, Roanoke Ridge, Annesburg, Van Horn Trading Post, Scarlett Meadows along its western coast, and Siltwater Strand.
The game uses pelicans as a source of bird materials and meat. Their Exotic Bird Meat can be obtained by killing and skinning them, and it is recommended for Rank 10 of the Herbalist Challenge. Pelicans provide an alternative to hunting parrots in Guarma, while parakeets are difficult to find.
