The Pheasant is a bird in Red Dead Redemption 2 based on Phasianus colchicus. The species appears as the Chinese ring-necked pheasant and the Ring-necked pheasant. It is a fairly large, colourful bird that spends its time feeding on the ground, with behaviour comparable to a Turkey when it is disturbed.
Pheasants live in The Heartlands, southwest of Valentine and in the country around Carmody Dell near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar. They remain on the ground while foraging, but react quickly when approached or startled. Their calls accompany a brief escape flight that stays low above the ground before they settle again nearby.
The Pheasant is a game bird hunted for its materials. A carcass can provide Pheasant Feather, Flight Feather, Animal Fat and Game Meat, alongside the Pheasant Carcass itself. Its short, low flight after being startled makes it behave differently from birds that remain in the air over longer distances.
