Steelhead Trout

Steelhead Trout is a fish species in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. It is a fairly large trout that yields Succulent Fish Meat and is good to eat. Larger specimens put up a powerful fight on the line, resisting attempts to reel them in more strongly than smaller fish. They are especially active during rainy weather.

The fish responds to several kinds of bait, with worms being particularly effective. Lures can draw Steelhead Trout when smaller fish such as Bluegills and Pickerels are nearby, as those fish ignore lures. In waters that also contain larger fish, worms can make Steelhead Trout a more suitable catch than bait that attracts those larger species.

Steelhead Trout live across the southern half of the map, in New Hanover, West Elizabeth, Lemoyne and New Austin. They occur in the Kamassa River from south of Fort Brennand through Bluewater Marsh, along Scarlett Meadows, at Flat Iron Lake, on the lower Dakota River and Lower Montana River, and on the San Luis River in Hennigan Stead west of Manteca Falls. Fishermen in northern Roanoke Valley report sightings of a Legendary Steelhead Trout.
