Bartholomew Braithwaite

Bartholomew Braithwaite belongs to the wealthy Braithwaite family of Braithwaite Manor in Scarlett Meadows, headed by his mother, Catherine. In 1898, after Maggie Fike returns to the moonshine trade, he becomes a rival bootlegger for the family, which has controlled Lemoyne's business during her absence. The Braithwaites employ Danny-Lee Caton, Maggie's former cook, to run their production. After Maggie's associate sabotages a Braithwaite operation, Bartholomew and Danny-Lee visit the moonshine shack to threaten the new rivals, but Maggie dismisses them.

Maggie later offers Bartholomew and Danny-Lee a supposed peace settlement, promising them a moonshine delivery. They arrive at the arranged meeting only to find Revenue Agent Reid Hixon and his men waiting with weapons drawn. Bartholomew immediately offers Danny-Lee up for arrest in an effort to save himself. When Hixon refuses, Bartholomew claims that hired gunmen are nearby and that he alone can stop them. Hixon accepts a $100 bribe from him, and Bartholomew is allowed to leave.

In 1899, Bartholomew is at Braithwaite Manor with Catherine and his brothers Gerald and Gareth when Arthur Morgan and Hosea Matthews bring stolen moonshine. He raises a shotgun at Arthur and Hosea when Hosea proposes taking the liquor elsewhere, until Catherine orders him to lower it and pays them. He later attends Catherine's meeting with Hosea, Sean MacGuire and Arthur, speaking little beyond insulting Hosea as she hires them to burn the Gray family's tobacco fields. After the Braithwaites abduct Jack Marston, Bartholomew faces the Van der Linde gang at the manor. Dutch van der Linde shoots him in the head.
