Freight Train (boxcar)

The Freight Train boxcar is a railroad freight car in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Its working version draws on North American 50-foot single-door boxcars, including TTX and Railbox examples. It has one door set near an end and four square roof platforms, details that differ from its real-world inspiration. The body carries a weathered brown finish with Freight and Santos Spirit branding.

Functional boxcars run as part of freight consists on the state's rail network. They can appear alongside well cars, but not tankcars. The car follows handling derived from the Freight Train and cannot be destroyed. It resists explosions and continues through obstacles on the rails, either forcing them aside or passing through them. Characters can jump onto it and remain aboard while the train is moving, though a bad jump between cars or toward the locomotive can send them off the train.

The car's interior is fully modelled despite being inaccessible, and is briefly visible at the end of The Paleto Score. Static boxcars also sit in rail yards and sidings around the state. Yellow examples may be clean or covered in graffiti, carrying Freight logos and brake wheels at their ends, while wrecked versions lack markings, bogies and brake wheels.
