Freight Train (tanker)

The Freight Train (tanker) is a railroad tank car in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Its cylindrical body has ladders on both sides and roof walkways, with Stream Line and White Bolt markings over a red-orange finish. Although the vehicle files use a white base, the active train car appears red-orange in play. It runs as part of freight consists on the San Andreas rail network.

Tankers can accompany well cars, but do not appear in consists with boxcars. Like the Freight Train itself, the tanker stays on the rails and forces its way through obstacles in its path. It can explode without stopping the cars behind it. Its handling derives from the Freight Train, and characters can leap aboard and remain standing on it while the train is moving, though a jump toward other cars or the locomotive can send them off the train.

Static tank-car props also sit in train yards and sidings around the state. Black and shorter white versions have upper ports, smaller platforms and a brake wheel at one end. A larger, rusted wreck lies along the abandoned rail line and rail yard in El Burro Heights, as well as in scrapyards across San Andreas. During Chop, a tanker is part of the scripted train sequence involving D, then remains visible after the cutscene.
