Freight Train (well car)

The Freight Train well car is a railroad freight car in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, modelled after an older TTX 53-foot well car but built to a shorter scale. Its sides carry D-Rail markings, and its load is described as 20-foot shipping containers, although the containers normally seen aboard it are 40-foot units. It has 38-inch wheels and a maximum gross capacity of 52,900 lbs.

Three working versions run with the Freight Train. The long, empty freightcar has seven side-wall sections and broad end platforms with ladders, guard rails and brake cylinders, appearing in several body colours. freightcont1 is a shorter white car carrying a D-Rail container, while freightcont2 carries a branded container with Union Flyer, Lando, Santos Steamer, L.S. Dart and R&R Freight markings. freightcar2 appears only during The E.C.U Job/Finale.

The cars travel on the railway and static examples sit in railyards across the state, including Mirror Park Railyard. A wrecked car lies near the La Mesa Los Santos Customs. They cannot be destroyed and force through obstacles or explosions on the tracks. They provide cover and are easier to board than other rail cars. The empty version can carry a vehicle, though its narrow well makes getting it back out difficult. Derailed uses a container car with doors and an interior for Michael's target cargo.
