SMG

The SMG is a fully automatic submachine gun made by Hawk & Little. In Grand Theft Auto V, its design draws chiefly from the MP5A3, with a retractable stock and a three-position trigger group. Its rectangular handguard resembles one from the Taurus MT-40, while its angular iron sights recall the CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1. The model also uses a shorter magazine and a deeper magazine well than the real MP5.

Ammu-Nation sells the SMG for $2,500 from the start of the game. It can also be found in a Grove Street backyard in Davis, near Mani in Alta, at the raised concrete platform between traffic lanes beneath Rockford Plaza on Carcer Way, and at Parsons Rehabilitation Center. Another pickup lies beneath the boardwalk at Del Perro beach, behind the side stairs near the supporting beams.

The SMG is most useful at close range, where its fast automatic fire can drop enemies quickly. Its damage per shot is low, however, and fast-firing assault rifles can surpass it. Accuracy becomes poor at medium and long range, especially in first-person view, where recoil and the iron sights interfere with aiming. It carries a larger standard magazine than the Micro SMG, but cannot be used for drive-by shootings.
