Player notes

At Clemens Point, Micah Bell tells Arthur Morgan that Pearson has met O'Driscolls who propose a parley with Dutch van der Linde. Hosea Matthews calls it a trap, but Micah argues that the offer should be heard, and Dutch agrees to go. Arthur rides out with Dutch and Micah as protection. Near Lone Mule Stead in Big Valley, Arthur breaks away from them and climbs to a position overlooking the meeting place.

From the ridge, Arthur watches Dutch meet Colm O'Driscoll. Dutch tries to settle their feud, while Colm taunts him and the gang. Before the discussion reaches any agreement, O'Driscolls creep up behind Arthur and knock him unconscious. They carry him away, beat and wound him, and move him between captivity sites while he fades in and out of consciousness.

Arthur wakes hanging upside down in an O'Driscoll building. Colm tells him the parley was bait: Arthur's capture is meant to draw Dutch into a rescue attempt, where the law is waiting to arrest the Van der Linde gang. After Colm leaves, Arthur frees himself and tends to his wound. He escapes the camp, takes a horse, and reaches Clemens Point, where Mary-Beth, Karen and Dutch find him collapsing. Susan Grimshaw and Reverend Swanson help carry him to his tent.

Trivia

  • โ—†"Blessed are the Peacemakers" is a Bible verse, Matthew 5:9, also seen on the epitaph of John Marston's grave at Beecher's Hope.
  • โ—†This mission is one of the only missions in the game where a character mentions its title, in this case Micah Bell, when he says "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called...".
  • โ—†If the player leaves their weapons on the horse before they reach the observation point, Arthur will still carry his rifle during the cutscene.
  • โ—†If Arthur did not retrieve his weapons during this mission, they will be replaced and be found on his horse after the mission.
  • โ—†Pausing and then un-pausing the game during Arthur's transport by the O'Driscolls will reveal a quick prompt by the game to either break free or give up. However, they will actually not be able to use any of these prompts, as they disappear as soon as the game is un-paused. These are the same prompts that appear in Red Dead Online when the player is tied with a lasso.
  • โ—†If the player escapes the O'Driscolls on foot instead of on horseback, Arthur will collapse and there will be a unique cutscene where he wakes up to his horse standing over him, before telling it to get him home. After this, the usual cutscene of Arthur riding back to camp exhausted on his horse will be shown.
  • โ—†After completing this mission, Arthur's hair and beard will have grown much longer than his usual length (with the hair being at about level 7 growth and the beard at about level 5 growth). This is likely due to the several week gap between Arthur's return to camp and the scene where Swanson speaks to him. The player can shave Arthur's beard at camp, but will need to visit a barber if they want to get his hair back to how long it was before starting the mission.
  • โ—†It is possible for Arthur's horse to be struck and killed by the train. This will not fail the mission, but his horse will not respawn and will be replaced by a standard Tennessee Walker after the mission.
  • โ—†It is possible to save the mask from this mission by using a glitch.
  • โ—†After completing this mission (if all other missions have been completed) Dutch will talk to Arthur at camp about what transpired after Arthur was knocked out and captured by the O'Driscolls, or (if all missions have not been completed) Micah will tell Arthur what happened.
  • โ—†At the end of the mission, the player will experience their first honor-related vision. They can envision a deer if they have high honor or a coyote for low honor.
  • โ—†If any of the player's bars (Health/Stamina/Dead Eye) are maxed out (via completing Challenges), they will be capped at Level 8 until the end of the mission.
  • โ—†The subtitles notably spell Annabelle's name as 'Annabel'. This may be a developer oversight.
  • โ—†This mission shares some similarities with the mission, "Cowards Die Many Times", from Red Dead Redemption.
  • โ—†Both Arthur and John go to the meeting point believing a false promise.
  • โ—†Both are knocked unconscious by being struck in the face with the butt of a rifle.
  • โ—†Once they are freed from their ropes, they need to reach their weapons.
  • โ—†Both of them kill the men of the person who tricked them after they get their weapons. However, Arthur's action is optional.
