Rusted Hunter Hatchet

The Rusted Hunter Hatchet is a unique melee hatchet in Red Dead Redemption 2. Its design has a long, bearded axe bit, a shape intended to give greater control when planing or shaving wood. Exposure to the elements has left the weapon heavily rusted. It cannot be customized.

It is lodged in a tree stump near Martha's Swain, by Three Sisters in the Grizzlies. The stump lies near the shack in the country between O'Creagh's Run and Elysian Pool. The hatchet is collected directly from the stump rather than bought from a gunsmith or earned through a mission.

Despite its unusual, weathered appearance, the Rusted Hunter Hatchet functions like the regular hatchet and is largely decorative beside it. It can be used in melee or thrown. If it is thrown, it must be picked up again, since unique hatchets do not return to the Weapons Wheel after being left on the ground.
