Viking Hatchet

The Viking Hatchet is a rare melee weapon in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is a one-handed hand axe with a wedged steel blade on a long wooden handle, a form otherwise close to the regular hatchet. Rope and leather bind the head to the haft, while Viking designs decorate both the blade and handle. It cannot be customized.

It lies at the Old Tomb in Roanoke Valley, New Hanover, north of Annesburg. The hatchet is lodged in a skull beside the stone slab bearing a skeleton. The Viking Helmet and Ancient Viking Comb are also nearby.

Although its appearance is largely decorative, the Viking Hatchet functions like the regular hatchet. Its sturdy construction lets it deliver heavy blows in close combat or be thrown at an opponent. Like other unique hatchets, it must be recovered after a throw. If left on the ground, it does not return automatically to the Weapons Wheel and can be lost.
