Machete

The Machete is a Melee weapon in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. Its broad, sharpened blade is modelled on a working tool used to cut sugar cane and clear forest undergrowth. It cannot be customized. Despite that practical origin, it is built for close combat and gives its wielder more reach than most melee weapons.

A standard Machete can be taken from Night Folk bodies at any time. During the story, it can also be taken from the bounty hunter who attacks Charles in "The First Shall Be Last", a Murfree in "That's Murfree Country", and Skinner Brothers during "The Tool Box" and "Uncle's Bad Day". In the third encounter of "A Bright Bouncing Boy", one lies near Marko Dragic's corpse. Fences sell it for $10 after "Fleeting Joy" in Chapter 5.

The Machete kills quietly with a forceful chop and can bring down a target quickly. It deals somewhat more damage than a knife, while retaining the use of silent lethal attacks and melee duels. It can also be used to cut through dense vegetation. In Red Dead Online, the standard version unlocks at Rank 32. The Zavala Machete is claimed from a Fence after its Halloween Pass unlock, while Madam Nazar sells the Águila Machete after the required Collector rank is reached.
