Desert Eagle

The Desert Eagle is a semi-automatic handgun modelled on the .50 AE version of the real Desert Eagle. It is larger than the Pistol and fills a role similar to the .357 from the previous game, with a seven-round capacity. Its model updates a Desert Eagle previously used only as a cutscene prop in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, where Ricardo Diaz, Lance Vance and Phil Cassidy are seen carrying it.

Ammu-Nation stocks the Desert Eagle after Black Project for $1200, or $1440 in Las Venturas, with ammunition sold in batches of 15 rounds. Pickups also appear at Playa Del Seville in Los Santos, the Angel Pine Junkyard in Whetstone, Garcia in San Fierro, Bayside Marina in Tierra Robada and the trailer park opposite Lil' Probe'Inn in Bone County. Once all 100 tags are sprayed, Grove Street Families members carry it.

The Desert Eagle hits harder than the Pistol, though its magazine is smaller than that weapon's and its suppressed version. Its power can remove a pedestrian's head in the same manner as rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles and heavy weapons. At poor skill it is accurate enough to drop targets with two body shots but slow to handle. Higher weapon skill improves its accuracy, range, firing rate and handling, eventually allowing one-shot kills on unarmored NPCs and reducing the time spent exposed to enemy fire.
