Hacking Device

The Hacking Device appears in Grand Theft Auto Online as equipment added with the continuation of The Chop Shop update. It is a compact handheld unit modelled closely on the Metal Detector from The Cayo Perico Heist. Its version has an antenna, while the detector's controls are replaced with different buttons.

The device is usable only during missions. It appears during The Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid, including Breaking and Entering, Disorganized Crime and Scene of the Crime. The game also confines its use to the circumference of a search zone, preventing it from being equipped beyond that area.

Although it is placed in the Handguns class, the Hacking Device has no offensive function. It is harmless and cannot damage targets, setting it apart from the firearms in that class. Its role is limited to the mission situations in which the game provides it.
