About this vehicle
The Vapid Hotknife is a two-door Muscle hot rod with room for two. In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, its design is based on a kit car with the Speedstar Fender Package, itself derived from a heavily modified 1933 Ford Model A Hot Rod. Its name also plays on the term "hot rod."
The Hotknife has a chrome grille, round lamps, broad fenders and side-mounted exhaust stacks. Its engine cover and fenders are optional extras, so some examples expose the engine, support frames and wiring. It appears in two-tone paintwork, with its Peyote-derived interior featuring a large analogue instrument dial. A carbureted single-cam V8 gives it a loud muscle-car engine note.
In the original Grand Theft Auto V, Collector's Edition owners receive a Hotknife in each protagonist's garage. It is sold through Legendary Motorsport for $90,000 in enhanced versions, free to Collector's Edition holders, while the Expanded and Enhanced version of Online lists it free. Acceleration and top speed are average for Muscle cars, but severe understeer, weak brakes and poor crash stability make it difficult in traffic despite decent deformation resistance.

- โThe name Hotknife is a possible reference to "hotknifing", a common method of smoking hash, while also being a play on "hot rod".
- โIf the player looks at the Hotknife's grille from the side or from the back, the grille is invisible.
- โIt is the third oldest car in the , along with the Z-Type, Duneloader, Rat-Loader, Roosevelt, Frรคnken Stange, and the old rusty Tractor.
- โWhen entering the Hotknife, the name of the vehicle at the bottom right of the screen does not display the manufacturer, despite the manufacturer being displayed on the car itself.
- โThis has been fixed in the enhanced version, displaying as "Vapid Hotknife, Muscle".
- โIf there are two players in the Hotknife, the driver's right shoulder will clip into the passenger's left shoulder due to lack of space.
- โAs of the 1.16 patch, the Hotknife will be free to replace if it gets destroyed by any means.
- โHowever, for those who do not own the Collector's Edition, it will still be rendered unrecoverable.
- โThe vehicle's pre-2019 "main" image on its Rockstar Games Social Club listing showed it with a missing hood and front fenders, but no bug catcher. This configuration is not the default and is unavailable as a mod option.
