Knuckle Dusters are a Melee weapon, also known as Brass Knuckles. They are metal knuckles with finger holes, worn over a clenched fist to add force to punches. In Grand Theft Auto V, they arrive with the Ill-Gotten Gains Part 2 update under their new name. The standard version has a smooth brass finish with rose engravings on its upper and lower sections.
Ammu-Nation sells Knuckle Dusters for $7,500 after Franklin and Lamar. In the enhanced version, they become available after Complications instead. They occupy the unarmed weapon slot, replacing the ordinary fist. The weapon can also be used in water, like fists and knives.
Knuckle Dusters raise punch damage without changing the versatility of unarmed fighting. They take at least two punches to defeat NPCs when countering during fistfights, while stealth attacks can knock targets down. Trevor's special ability lets him kill enemies with two direct hits from the weapon.
Trivia
- ◆The engravings of a gun and roses under the Knuckle Duster are a reference to the American rock band Guns N' Roses. This is an Easter egg.
- ◆In GTA Online, as part of The Diamond Casino & Resort update, the player can buy the "Is It Hypoallergenic?" painting for the Master Penthouse, which depicts the base Knuckle Dusters, with the Swedish text "Detta är inte en knogjärn", which roughly translates to "This is not a knuckles". This is a reference to René Magritte's The Treachery of Images, a painting of a pipe with the text "Ceci n'est pas une pipe", the French for "This is not a pipe".
